The company has established itself so well throughout this region that expansion into other markets has come at a rapid pace. Producing approximately 20,000 packages of pastries daily that are shipped across the region their products can be found on the shelves of many of the largest restaurants & hotels.  The family-owned business is dedicated to producing fine quality products.  The rapid expansion has meant adding more production, warehouse and distribution capabilities, whilst maintaining the flexibility to adapt to its customers’ needs and adhere to changing customer codes of practice.

SOLUTION

After working with the company on this latest project Xact explained that it’s a necessity for them to utilise an inspection technology that suits different requirements and can quickly handle changes.

“Display until” or “Best Before” dates on labels have always been a problem if production planning dictates that you should pack several days ahead of the batch being shipped to the distribution depot, as is the case with many fruit and vegetable pack houses.
 
This usually causes problems as the old programmes were fairly inflexible with lots of manual modifications to the label design being required to adjust the dates shown on the label. This can often lead to mistakes being made and labels left with the modified dates rather than the original date.
 
When a label sent to the packing machine asks the operator for the “Depot Day”(the day the product will leave to move to the distribution depot), the offset days are now calculated from the depot date. An added safe guard is that the range of dates can be restricted to stop “Display until”, “Best Before” dates a year in advance, for example.

 

 

The modification, which can also allow fruit caliber to be chosen at the time of packing is supplied as a “plugin” (a small additional “add on program” to the current version of Girprint). The label delivery screen shows what will be printed so the operator can check the dates before committing to printing.

High Product Visibility and Fast Production

The ‘Tiger’ is the only machine that can make In Line packs without a metal clip, making it both economical and ecological.

The Inline packs have a strong visual impact giving high visibility of the contents inside.  The machine is extremely easy to use and operated by a large colour touch-screen control panel which can be used by unskilled personnel. The pack is sealed by the ‘thermo welding system’ meaning there is no need for a metal clip.

Material used to make the pack is extruded tubular net and PE film width of 40 mm. This makes the finished product one of the cheapest on the market.

Suitable for: garlic, onions, limes, lemons, citrus fruits in general, chestnuts, etc.
