Xact to Relocate to Larger Premises

Xact will be relocating its Liverpool headquarters at the end of August 2016. The new premises will be exactly 0.5 miles from our current location in Vauxhall Road, Liverpool.

The new premises will mean improved client service, new amenities for employees and room for growth. We will have an expansive demo suite with live demonstrations, real production lines, workshops and meeting rooms with video conferencing facilities. Staff amenities include a gym, showers and relaxation area.

Xact will occupy the entire 33,000 sq ft. office building located next to the River Mersey and close to the new multi million pound cruise ship terminal. “The new office space will provide greater efficiency in how we serve clients. As we started to outgrow our current office, which was suitable for our needs in the 70’s and 80’s, our departments became dispersed throughout different floors of the building. We expect our new space to improve internal and external communication and our new state of the art demo suites to offer our clients and prospective clients a great opportunity to see our kit in action,” said Director Barry Baldock.

“We wanted to limit the impact that relocation could have on our employees and our clients and we were fortunate to find such a nice space within Liverpool City Centre and so close to our current office. The move to new premises is an exciting development for us, our new location and enhanced operation will support our continued growth and expansion plans, allowing us to provide exceptional service and value along the way. ” said Managing Director, David Hughes.

Xact’s two warehouses in Liverpool and Cambridge remain unaffected by the HQ move. The final phase of the move is due to be completed at the end of August 2016. Our new address will be 20-24 Gibraltar Row, King Edward Industrial Estate, Liverpool, L3 7HT. All emails and phone numbers remain the same.

Latest Inline Netting System – No Metal Clip!

High Product Visibility and Fast Production!

The ‘Tiger’ is the only machine that can make In Line packs without a metal clip, making it both economical and ecological.

The Inline packs have a strong visual impact giving high visibility of the contents inside.  The machine is extremely easy to use and operated by a large colour touch-screen control panel which can be used by unskilled personnel. The pack is sealed by the ‘thermo welding system’ meaning there is no need for a metal clip.

Material used to make the pack is extruded tubular net and PE film width of 40 mm. This makes the finished product one of the cheapest on the market.

Suitable for: garlic, onions, limes, lemons, citrus fruits in general, chestnuts, etc.

Features of the Rev Inline Pack ‘Tiger’ Machine:

  • Fully recyclable
  • Small tube system for garlic
  • Fast in production

Premium Spirits Producer Eliminates Costly Government Fines with Matthews’ MPERIA™

A worldwide manufacturer of premium spirits paid costly control agency fines due to incorrectly printed state/government codes on its shipping cartons. These codes were manually programmed on production lines and errors were common. The manufacturer wanted to eliminate these errors and fines by housing all current state codes in a central database and having a marking system that automatically pulled and printed only the most up-to- date and correct information.

Solution
After the manufacturer had eliminated other marking systems for being too expensive or incompatible with its SAP database, Matthews Marking Systems proposed its universal print controller, MPERIA™. Matthews’ solution was to have MPERIA™ act as a “print server” for the company’s SAP database and its existing production line printheads. In total, 4 MPERIA™ controllers were required (1 controller for every 2 production lines) and Matthews wrote a custom plug-in that managed the customer’s internal database and existing printheads.

Results
By utilising MPERIA™, the premium spirits manufacturer can accurately code each shipping carton and therefore eliminate coding errors and costly liquor control agency fines. The company also reduces downtime associated with message changeover, as MPERIA™ automatically pulls updated information from SAP. As a result of this successful partnership with Matthews, the company is looking to expand this solution to 3 additional plants and replace its current printheads with Matthews’ VIAjet™ T-Series.

Xact – Cementing Relationships With The Construction Industry

A company producing bagged aggregate products needed an inline printing system for applying the product ID comprising of a product name and traceability codes to their plastic packaging.

The customer stipulated it was essential the proposed system could provide a large high quality print format (to aid visibility of the codes when bags are palletised) as well as meeting the tough operating environments of the plant (dust, vibration and variable operating temperatures).

Our competitors were offering CIJ (continuous ink jet) printing technology. This was also an option available within the range from Xact.

Instead, Xact proposed the latest V-series printing system which, in comparison to CIJ technology, not only increased the legibility of the codes but also significantly reduced initial investment and operating costs moving forward.

The V-series is also the most industrial printing technology on the market so the tough operating conditions of the plant were no issue to long-term performance and reliability

Xact’s years of expertise within the industrial sector and in-particular our knowledge of coding & marking construction products, provided added confidence to move forward with Xact.

New MPERIA™ Measures Up To The Timber Industry

A leading manufacturer of roof trusses and other timber products approached Xact looking for a printing system to apply the product ID for traceability and to meet the new CE requirements of the industry. The customer wished to replace their current printing unit as it was proving unreliable and costly to maintain.  In addition to this, the customer had been quoted thousands for the line builder to re-write the program on the line to provide compatibility with a new printing system.

The product ID (comprising of a length measurement) is applied during the automated cutting and measuring process on the line. The information is generated not only for the end-user and general plant traceability, but also for new CE requirements of the industry. The product length is downloaded to the printer from the operating system controlling the cutting & measuring process on the line. The marking process was previously being completed by another printing system networked to the line.  Xact’s solution was the installation of  MPERIA™ and VIAjet V-Series print head with emulation plug-in.

WHY CHOOSE XACT?

  • Xact were able to eliminate this cost by proposing our new MPERIA controller loaded with a plug-in which emulates the current download and converts the string which is compatible with MPERIA™ operating system.
  • This flexibility not only eliminated the high cost to modify the software on the line but also downtime on implementation, and also meant no additional hardware was required.
  • In addition to the above, the implementation of the latest V-Series 8000+ print head has significantly improved print quality and reduced operating costs. The head is the most robust on the market so despite the harsh operating environment long-term reliability and consistency of the marking process is another significant advantage to the customer.
  • The customer is also aware of our VIAjet L and T series high-resolution print heads within the range, also operated through the MPERIA™ operating system. So, with the success of the V-Series the customer is reviewing other plant applications for these systems also.
  • MPERIA V, L and T series printers are proven across all sectors of the Timber Industry for applications including general product ID’s, to logos, graphics and barcodes.
